Rigging Apprenticeships. ECITB Level 3 NVQ.

Since joining Jemsar in 2021, I have completed my ECITB level 3 NVQ in rigging. Whilst working as an improver I have picked up important lessons, with the help of my mentor and work colleagues, about safety, site rules, procedures and correct rigging methods. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel around the country and work on a variety of different sites helping me expand my knowledge of how different site operate and the different procedures they follow.

I have gained vast amounts of knowledge in my pursuit of becoming a qualified maintenance technician / engineer. Predominantly my role is to carry out maintenance on heat exchangers, however, since being here I have learned key industry safety standards, mechanical practices and procedures covering a range of process equipment, such as Pumps, Gearboxes, Valves. Having these varied types of work in such an environment is rare, and I value that I have been able to start my career a part of it.

Jemsar Engineering Apprenticeships Grimsby

I am currently training towards becoming a mechanical fitting technician. In my 3 years I have helped strip, remove, install, and repair many heat exchangers with Jemsar and continue to learn more each day. I have also had time spent learning about rotary equipment such as pumps, turbines, and compressors. The job doesn’t just consist of mechanical work I’ve also been given big responsibilities such as handling permits and safety related documents such as Risk Assessments and Method Statements, which is valuable experience as I pursue my career in the mechanical world. Jemsar have always been there to support me throughout my apprenticeship and continue to make me feel like a valuable asset to them.

Callum, 1st Year Pipe Welding Apprentice
Petrochemical Apprenticeships Immingham

As a pipefitting apprentice, my role is to cut and prepare pipework ready for a welder. I believe the route of doing an apprenticeship is the best way to go as it gets you ready to go straight into the workplace and gives you the practical skills needed to then move onto the next stage. I feel extremely fortunate to be an apprentice at Jemsar and looking forward to the next chapter.
